DAYS OF ’47 COWBOY GAMES & RODEO BECOMES UTAH DAYS OF ’47 RODEO

SALT LAKE CITY (March 16, 2022) – With Spring Break upon us, summer vacation is right around the corner and we invite you to join us this July in Salt Lake City for the Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo presented by Zions Bank. Formerly known as the Days of ’47 Cowboy Games & Rodeo, the event will have a slightly different name for 2022.

The Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo will kick open the chutes July 20, at the Days of ’47 Arena at the Utah State Fairpark in the heart of the city.

“We are excited to officially welcome in a new chapter of this historic rodeo this July,” stated Dan Shaw, Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo President & CEO. “The Days of ’47 Rodeo is one of Utah’s longest-standing traditions celebrating Utah’s heritage and something we take pride in showcasing every July.”

Gates will open at 4:30 pm daily so fans can enjoy the historical exhibits, commercial exhibitors, great food, carnival and preshow activities in the area including the Young Guns Rodeo featuring the future stars of the sport. The main rodeo action takes place nightly at 7:30 p.m. July 20-23 and the Gold Medal round will take place on July 25.

Tickets will go on-sale April 13 as part of National Boots Day and will be available via www.axs.com. Group sales of 10 tickets or more will receive a $5 off excluding the $14 priced tickets. Please note: Tickets sold via AXS.com are the only guaranteed and verified authentic tickets for Utah Days of ’47 events. Please check the URL in your browser to ensure that you are only purchasing from AXS.com

The Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo will once again be a stop on the World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) Triple Crown of Rodeo (TCR). The TCR is an annual bonus that pays $1 million to any one athlete or collection of athletes who wins three consecutive WCRA Major Rodeos.

The Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo has become a must stop on the summer rodeo schedule for contestants from the junior high level all the way to the pros of the sport as they vie for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals awarded to the top three, setting this rodeo apart from any other rodeo in the world.

The 2022 rodeo will mark the seventh time in the history of rodeo where riders will have an opportunity to compete for Gold, Silver or Bronze Medals. The first two times were in conjunction with the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary (1988) and Salt Lake City (2002), when rodeo was part of the Cultural Olympiad and the other four times being the Days of ’47 Cowboy Games & Rodeo in 2017-2019, 2021. The medals awarded at the Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo are produced by OC Tanner, the same company that made the Olympic medals for the champions of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
