Only Gold Medal Cowboys will compete during the Days of ’47 celebrations, testing their skills in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, and new this year, breakaway roping. Over $1 million in prize money along with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be paid out during the course of the rodeo action. Semi-final performances take place July 19, 20, 22, 23, culminating with the Gold Medal Round on July 24 at 8 PM each night. Winners will take home $50,000 in cash and prizes for gold, $25,000 for silver and $12,000 for bronze.
Each of the four semi-final performances will consist of eight contestants in each rodeo discipline battling it out to advance on to the Gold Medal Round on July 24, 2019. The top two fastest times or highest scores in each discipline from each semi-final performance will move on, as will the top two fastest times or highest scores overall from all four semi-final performances combined, that have not yet advanced, making a total of ten contestants in each discipline in the Gold Medal Round.
